Los Angeles, CA – America’s Frontline Doctors (AFLDS) today released the following statement in response to President-elect Joe Biden’s $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan COVID-19 stimulus package:

“Joe Biden has consistently presented himself as the pro-science candidate, yet with this latest massive spending plan he seems more focused on paying Americans to hide in their basements than saving lives. While we are pleased to finally see the federal government taking steps to urge school re-openings, there is nothing in Mr. Biden’s plan to prohibit another round of economically and socially devastating state and local lockdowns over a virus with a 99.7% survival rate.

“If Mr. Biden is serious about working across the aisle to get Americans back to work and returning our country to a normal way of life, he should listen to voices outside Washington. Opening up the country and saving more lives means shifting our focus to cost-effective, medically proven preventative measures.

“AFLDS has been at the forefront of the fight against disinformation in the COVID era. For months, we have called on states to end the lockdowns and focus our protection efforts on the frail elderly and immunocompromised. Scientific research and firsthand patient experience have demonstrated the effectiveness of preventative and early treatment options for those with mild to moderate COVID-19 infections.

“Spending $2 trillion in borrowed money is not leadership. It’s simply doubling down on a failed strategy fed-up Americans no longer support.”
