CDC, Politicians are Spreading Fear, Making Recommendations Not Backed Up By Science

Los Angeles, CA – Dr. Simone Gold, MD, JD, a board-certified emergency physician and founder of America’s Frontline Doctors, today released the following statement in response to new guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):

“After eight months of often arbitrary, conflicting, and unscientific recommendations that have Americans living in fear of COVID-19, the CDC and politicians now want people to cancel their Thanksgiving. These recommendations are not based on science and are counter-productive to our overall fight against the virus.

“Americans are smarter than the politicians give them credit for. They know that those at risk can take extra precautions during this holiday season without being subjected to a politically charged assault on essential American values and traditions. As we have already seen with the massive nursing home deaths in New York, and restrictive treatment options nationwide compared to the world, the CDC’s pronouncements are used to justify disastrous local political decisions.

“The whole idea that a pandemic will be slowed if Americans don’t have Thanksgiving dinner with their immediate family and friends is nonsense. The CDC and politicians such as governors Cuomo and Newsom, as well as New York Mayor Bill De Blasio, should help advance scientifically proven preventative and early treatment options for those at greatest risk rather than continue their fear-mongering.”
