A new study highlighting the risks of Pfizer’s contraceptive shot, Depo-Provera, could intensify the wave of lawsuits against the pharmaceutical giant, which stands accused of failing to warn women about its dangerous side effects.Depo-Provera, or medroxyprogesterone acetate, uses a synthetic form of the hormone progestin to prevent ovulation. It was approved by the FDA in 1992, and now roughly 2-3 million Depo-Provera prescriptions are filled annually. Roughly one in four American women received Depo-Provera shots between 2015 and 2019, according to a National Health Statistics <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nhsr/nhsr195.pdf" id="">report</a>.A newly published <a href="https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/40892397/" id="">study</a> found that women who receive the shot face twice the risk of developing a meningioma—a tumor that forms in the membranes surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Though usually non-cancerous, a meningioma can become debilitating or even fatal if it exerts pressure on the brain. The researchers, from the Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University, looked at the medical records of 61.5 million women and found that women over 31 or women who took the shot for more than four years faced the greatest risk. Previous studies <a href="https://www.bmj.com/content/384/bmj-2023-078078" id="">found</a> that women who take the shot for more than a year are up to 5.5 times more likely to develop a meningioma.Hundreds of women have come forward alleging that they developed meningiomas from Pfizer’s birth control jab. A class-action lawsuit has been filed against Pfizer in the Northern District of Florida, accusing the drugmaker of failing to warn women about the risks.As of August 3rd, the law firm Miller &amp; Zois had added more than 550 cases to the class action, which now <a href="https://www.legalexaminer.com/borzell/all/pfizer-faces-growing-legal-storm-over-depo-provera-as-brain-tumor-lawsuits-surge/" id="">includes</a> over 1,200 claimants. One plaintiff, an Iowa City woman who received 25 Depo-Provera injections, claims she developed an intracranial meningioma—a brain tumor—that caused headaches, numbness, slurred speech, and double vision.<h2 id="">‘Pfizer knew the risks’</h2>Miller &amp; Zois’ attorneys say Pfizer knew about the risk of meningioma but did not warn the public.“This is not a new problem. Studies linking Depo-Provera to meningioma go back to 1983, when researchers discovered that synthetic hormones could stimulate progesterone receptors in these tumors. That was a significant red flag—if anyone had bothered to look,” the law firm <a href="https://www.lawsuit-information-center.com/depo-provera-lawsuit.html#faq" id="">said</a>.“Pfizer knew the risks. The science was there. But instead of updating the warning label, it kept the information quiet and the sales rolling. Because, as history has shown, profits tend to win when profits and public safety go head-to-head.”The lawyers added that while European and Canadian regulators required Pfizer to add warnings about meningiomas to Depo-Provera’s label, the FDA has taken no such action. The FDA approved the shot in 1992 after previously rejecting it over evidence of cancer risks. The New York Post <a href="https://nypost.com/2025/10/17/health/popular-birth-control-linked-to-brain-tumors-in-new-study-as-over-1000-women-sue-pfizer-over-health-risks" id="">reports</a> that a “black box” warning was added to Depo-Provera’s label in 2004, warning about significant bone mineral density loss.Miller &amp; Zois estimates the number of meningioma cases from the jab could be as high as 1,045 to 1,568 per 100,000 women. They expect settlement payouts of $275,000 to $500,000.<h2 id="">‘Why are doctors continuing to prescribe these?’</h2>Women in the UK are now also considering filing suit against Pfizer, the Daily Mail <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-14755521/contraceptive-jab-linked-brain-tumours.html" id="">reported</a>. Approximately 10,000 Depo-Provera prescriptions go out in the UK each month. The government’s Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Authority has already called for warnings about meningiomas to be added to the jab’s label.Dr. Anne Henderson, a gynecologist who worked for Britain’s National Health Service for 17 years, said the data on the risks of Depo-Provera are not new and doctors who prescribe it long term could be medically negligent.“Being advised to take medroxyprogesterone is absolutely shocking, verging on medical negligence,” she said. “These hormones were never designed to control period problems anything short of long-term.“The data that presents the awful side effects of these hormones is not new, so why are doctors continuing to prescribe these without looking at the cold, hard facts? Women need to be self-educated and question: Why am I taking this? Is this the right thing for me?’”‍

Government school officials in Orange County, Florida, were subjecting captive students to lessons teaching sorcery and witchcraft — literally. The move sparked outrage among critics, and legal demands that West Orange High School stop the program immediately or at least give students the ability to opt out and promote Christianity.According to news reports and <a href="https://lc.org/newsroom/details/092425-florida-high-school-ceases-witchcraft-presentations-1" id="">a Christian non-profit law firm that got involved in the case</a>, every Wednesday, students at the school were shown witchcraft programming across the school’s TV system as part of the mid-week morning announcements. There was no option to avoid the program.Dubbed “Witchy Wednesday,” the video series shown schoolwide over the school’s TV system included lessons on casting spells, using magic, worshipping the moon, and other occult rituals. The lessons also taught students to burn incense and fold papers to burn based on the moon’s cycle.The video, shown on September 10, featured a student offering instructions on how to perform the rituals. “You write your intuition down on your paper. Fold it three times. Burn your paper into your white candle. Burn it completely and entirely to have your intention released into the universe,” the student reportedly said in the video shown to all students during the morning announcements. “That itself is your ‘Light of Insight’ at work.”“There is a full moon coming up on Sept. 18, where the energy is at its highest peak,” the video added before urging students to enjoy a “wicked” Wednesday. “Creating simple things like moon water and releasing rituals are good ways to cleanse and recharge yourself during this period.”Of course, the Bible, which was unlawfully banned by a rogue Supreme Court over 50 years ago, repeatedly and forcefully condemns such rituals. In Leviticus, Deuteronomy, and other books, God refers to the practices as an “abomination” that is connected to the demonic realm. And yet, the school had no problem exposing students to it until being called out.Citing various Supreme Court rulings, Orange County Public Schools administrators and attorneys shut down the program recently — but only after being put on notice by Liberty Counsel, a Christian non-profit law firm that has won numerous high-profile victories in defense of Christians and religious liberty.“The segment was delivered over the school’s television system, on the school’s morning announcements under the supervision of school faculty,” wrote the school district’s general counsel John Palmerini in a letter to Liberty Counsel. “As such, we cannot constitutionally allow such a segment to continue to take place in the future.”“Consistent with the Supreme Court’s ruling in Santa Fe, we do not want any student, whether Christian or non-Christian, to feel like they are outsiders and not full members of the political community at West Orange High School,” he continued. “As such, we can no longer allow the segment in question to continue.”In its original complaint, Liberty Counsel suggested the school could also allow Christian students to share their faith in Jesus Christ over the school’s TV system during announcements. But rather than allow students to hear about the Bible and Christianity, officials decided to stop the witchcraft programming entirely.Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver thanked the district, nevertheless. “We commend Orange County Public Schools for taking action to discontinue the ‘Witchy Wednesday’ video segments,” he said. “Witchcraft and teaching students how to cast occultic spells have no place in government schools.”Palmerini, the district’s lawyer, acknowledged that promoting witchcraft lessons and spells at a tax-funded school was problematic. But he also criticized Liberty Counsel for informing the media before the district had a chance to respond, as if parents and taxpayers did not have a right to know that children were being subjected to occult rituals at school.This invasion of occultism and the demonic in government schools is becoming increasingly prevalent. In 2021, California’s State Board of Education <a href="https://www.freedomproject.com/2022/01/19/newman-report-14/" id="">unanimously approved</a> a program requiring children to chant to pagan Aztec deities of cannibalism, war, and human sacrifice. They only stopped it after a lawsuit.Earlier this year, The Newman Report <a href="https://www.freedomproject.com/2025/01/27/tnr20250127/" id="">exposed</a> California’s “mental health” app for students. It is filled with promotion of the occult, sorcery, transgenderism, homosexuality, extreme leftist political positions, and more. The app included Tarot cards references as well.Just a few months ago, The Newman Report <a href="https://www.freedomproject.com/2025/05/23/tnr52325/" id="">explained</a> that Chicago taxpayers were forced to pay millions of dollars to victims of the local government schools for similar outrages. Among other concerns, the school was forcing students to participate in Hindu rituals and offer sacrifices to small demonic idols.The connections between the demonic and government’s takeover of education go back to the beginning. Video series “Witchy Wednesday” included lessons on casting spells, moon worship and other occult rituals with no opt out option

By Michael Nevradakis, Ph.D., Children’s Health Defense<div data-rt-embed-type='true'>Seventy school nurses across Maine are challenging the state’s <a href="https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender_category/censorship-surveillance/first-amendment-censorship-surveillance/">new vaccine reporting system</a>, saying it adds to their workload, shares student records with a third party without consent and could breach student privacy.
The nurses outlined their concerns over the new <a href="https://docket.care/schools">Docket for Schools</a> “reporting module” in a letter sent last week to Gov. Janet Mills and state lawmakers, the <a href="https://www.pressherald.com/2025/10/16/maine-school-nurses-raise-concerns-about-new-vaccine-reporting-system/">Portland Press Herald</a> reported. <a href="https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/">The Defender</a> could not obtain a copy of the letter.
Docket for Schools is an electronic system that allows “school nurses, administrators and public health stakeholders” to input and update all students’ <a href="https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender_category/toxic-exposures/vaccines-toxic-exposures/">vaccination</a> records.
The nurses said the system raises concerns about overreach and unnecessary exposure of student vaccination data, and burdens nurses with additional “time-consuming administrative tasks,” according to an excerpt of the letter published by the Press Herald.
The nurses also said that “parents didn’t give informed consent to have detailed personal information … uploaded to a third-party platform,” the Press Herald reported.
“While we fully support the importance of protecting public health and ensuring accurate immunization records, we are deeply concerned about the burdens and risks this system places on schools, school nurses and families,” the letter states.
<a href="https://themodernmisfit.substack.com">Tiffany Kreck</a>, executive director of <a href="https://x.com/choice_maine">Health Choice Maine</a> and a member of the board of <a href="https://new.childrenshealthdefense.org">Children’s Health Defense New England</a>, agreed. “In Maine, families’ right to informed consent has already been eroded into near non-existence,” she said.
“No one has provided parents any information on this system, no one has consulted with parents, and no one gave parents an option to have their child&#8217;s data accessed or maintained by this system,” Kreck said.
The Maine Department of Education (DOE) and the Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) introduced the system in April, saying it would launch during the 2025-26 school year.
The state agencies said Docket for Schools would ensure uniform and thorough record-keeping of students’ vaccination data. In a June memo, the <a href="https://www.maine.gov/doe/sites/maine.gov.doe/files/inline-files/School%20Health%20Services%20-%20Priority%20Notice%20Docket%20for%20Schools%20Immunization%20Launched%20-%209.8.2025.pdf">Maine DOE</a> said schools often submitted student vaccination reports that were “incomplete, erroneous, or not received.”
The memo states that Docket for Schools will help the Maine DOE and CDC conduct “year-round compliance oversight” and will give school superintendents continuous access to their schools’ vaccination compliance rates.
Maine requires the diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTaP), polio, measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), varicella (chickenpox) and meningococcal meningitis <a href="https://childrenshealthdefense.org/vaccines/">vaccines</a> for elementary and secondary school attendance.
The Maine DOE and CDC, the governor’s office and the Maine Association of School Nurses did not respond to The Defender’s request for comment by press time.
State’s reassurances do not satisfy Maine nurses
In a joint statement quoted by the Press Herald, the Maine DOE and the state’s Department of Health and Human Services said personal data contained within the Docket for Schools system can be accessed only at the school level and that the system permits the release of records only in accordance with federal privacy laws.
“The Maine DOE and the Maine CDC will continue to seek and incorporate feedback from school nurses and other school staff as this transition progresses,” according to the joint statement.
The statement reiterated the June memo’s reassurance that Docket for Schools meets “data privacy requirements” under state law and the <a href="https://studentprivacy.ed.gov/faq/what-ferpa">Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act</a>.
Yet, the memo noted that parental consent forms are not required for adding students’ data to the system, as consent forms “are only required for shared data, and student records cannot be accessed by users outside of their school.”
In an Oct. 10 <a href="https://mailchi.mp/maine/cu5lemq6y0-1594061">follow-up memo</a> responding to nurses’ concerns, the Maine DOE reiterated that data within the Docket for Schools system is safe and is handled in accordance with state and federal law.
But nurses who spoke to the Press Herald said these reassurances did not fully address their concerns.
The Press Herald reported:
“One of the biggest frustrations nurses have with the new system is that school nurses don’t actually give immunizations. They are usually administered by a pediatrician, but the program requires the nurses to input original records from the student’s primary care provider, which are often full of small clerical errors made by those offices, made several years earlier.”
Kreck noted that Docket, the developer of the Docket for Schools system, is “a privately-owned, for-profit company that is not answerable to the public in the same way government and bureaucracy is.”
In 2021, a <a href="https://techcrunch.com/2021/10/27/docket-vaccine-records-covid-security/">security bug</a> in a Docket-developed health app exposed users’ <a href="https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender_category/covid/">COVID-19</a> vaccination records.
The new system means more documentation and paperwork for nurses, according to Colleen Marzilli, Ph.D., executive director of the <a href="https://anamaine.nursingnetwork.com">American Nurses Association-Maine</a> (ANA-Maine).
“Any transition to new reporting tools and processes must honor nurses’ crucial role and respect the realities of an already demanding workload,” she said.
State, federal governments ‘collecting more and more personal information’
<a href="https://merylnass.substack.com">Dr. Meryl Nass</a>, founder of <a href="https://doortofreedom.org">Door to Freedom</a>, said Maine’s implementation of the Docket for Schools system is part of a trend where “state and federal governments have been collecting more and more personal information on citizens.”
Nass questioned why Maine authorities want to collect the vaccination data. She said:
“In the case of school immunization records, the states are merely seeking a second (or third or fourth) source of information regarding which children have received which vaccines and when.
“Since no vaccine is 100% effective after vaccination, and all have reduced efficacy over time, the records will provide information on compliance but will not provide information on whether a child is effectively resistant to an infection. Why does the state government demand this information?”
Nass said the data collection raises constitutional concerns under the <a href="https://constitution.congress.gov/constitution/amendment-4/">Fourth Amendment</a>.
The government “needs a warrant to collect personal effects” and cannot get a warrant without showing “probable cause — evidence regarding a crime.” Nass said. “Schoolchildren have committed no crime, yet governments want all their health data.”
Nass said that, in the event of an outbreak, local officials — not those at the state or federal level — are best equipped to respond. She said:
“If there is an outbreak, it will be up to (only) local officials to determine whether any children should be advised to stay home. Infections, pandemics and epidemics, no matter how widespread they may be, are only dealt with at the local level, by patients and medical providers caring for patients one by one, attending to their distinctive and individual needs.
“As we learned from COVID-19, the advice, the rules and the supplies coming from the state and federal governments provided essentially zero benefit to sick COVID patients. The less information we supply to the state and federal governments, the safer we are likely to be and the more compliant with the Constitution, which gives governments no authority over citizens’ health.”
Marzilli said state authorities should consider stakeholders’ concerns regarding the Docket for Schools. She said:
“Nurses remain committed to advancing safe, efficient, and ethically sound public health practices for all Maine students. As our communities adjust to evolving requirements, ANA-Maine calls for ongoing communication, transparency in decision-making, and meaningful opportunities for input from those most directly impacted.
“The well-being of students and the effectiveness of health initiatives are inextricably linked to the capacity and wellness of school nurses. We urge all stakeholders to remember that supporting nurses is essential to safeguarding the health of our school communities.”
New system may offer ability to track unvaccinated and their doctors
Maine is one of just four U.S. states that <a href="https://publichealth.jhu.edu/sites/default/files/2025-09/maine.pdf">don’t allow religious exemptions</a> to vaccination. The state prohibited them in 2019. However, Maine lawmakers are considering bills that would <a href="https://wgme.com/news/local/maine-legislature-to-discuss-bills-on-vaccine-exemptions-for-students">restore the exemptions</a>.
Kreck said Docket for Schools will allow the state and private actors to track the unvaccinated and the reasons they’ve opted not to receive vaccines. She said the platform also collects data on physicians who issue medical exemptions to vaccination.
“The app tracks specific exemption information for vaccines, which means that the company and anyone they share the information with, including the state, will have data analysis capabilities to identify people who have specific religious beliefs and philosophical beliefs, as well as tracking doctors that are writing medical exemptions,” Kreck said.
Kreck added that school nurses’ workload in Maine increased after the state banned religious exemptions. She said:
“Enforcement of the policy change landed almost solely on the shoulders of school nurses, who now must spend additional time each year sorting vaccine records, categorizing by compliance and reporting to the state.
“It is also the nurse that has to contact any non-compliant family and bring them into compliance.”
Maine working to ensure access to COVID vaccines
Maine is rolling out the Docket for Schools system as the state continues to enact policies ensuring access to COVID-19 vaccines.
Last month, <a href="https://www.maine.gov/governor/mills/news/governor-mills-direction-maine-cdc-issues-standing-order-expanding-access-covid-19-vaccine">Mills issued a standing order</a> authorizing healthcare providers in the state to administer COVID-19 vaccines without a prescription.
The order was in response to new federal guidelines <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/acip/vaccine-recommendations/shared-clinical-decision-making.html">limiting COVID-19 vaccine recommendations</a> to the elderly and high-risk groups, although the vaccine is still available to anyone who wants it. Maine enacted its new policy in coordination with public health officials from several other <a href="https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/eight-northeast-states-eye-end-run-around-cdc-vaccine-recommendations/">northeastern states</a>.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Maine nurses who refused to comply with the state’s <a href="https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender_category/censorship-surveillance/mandates-censorship-surveillance/">vaccine mandate</a> for healthcare workers were fired, including nurses who were denied religious exemptions.
In June, the <a href="https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/supreme-court-wont-hear-appeal-maine-healthcare-workers-fired-refusing-covid-vaccine/">U.S. Supreme Court refused to hear</a> an appeal challenging the firings. <a href="https://www.mainepublic.org/health/2023-07-11/maine-to-end-covid-19-vaccine-requirement-for-healthcare-workers">Maine repealed its mandate</a> for healthcare workers in 2023. After Maine lifted the mandate, some healthcare employers in the state offered to <a href="https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/maine-general-hospital-nurses-covid-shots/">rehire the fired nurses</a>.
In March, the <a href="https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/maine-court-child-vaccinated-parental-consent-school/">Maine Supreme Judicial Court</a> upheld a lower court ruling that <a href="https://childrenshealthdefense.org/defender/boy-pfizer-vaccination-informed-consent-maine/">school medical staff cannot be held liable</a> for giving a COVID-19 vaccine to a minor without obtaining parental consent.
The ruling stemmed from a lawsuit filed in 2023 by the parents of a boy who received the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine in 2021 at his school, though his parents did not consent to the vaccination.

70 school nurses challenge new vaccine reporting system claiming it shares student records without consent, may violate privacy

A new report is upending assumptions about the direction of gender ideology. After years of rapid growth, the number of U.S. students identifying as transgender has dropped sharply — and the shift appears to be accelerating.The <a href="https://www.heterodoxcentre.com/research/chss-report-no-5/" id="">report</a>, published by Professor Eric Kaufmann at the University of Buckingham, analyzed several datasets and found that, among university students, the share identifying as transgender fell from nearly 7% in 2023 to just under 4% in 2025. The number of students who identify as non-heterosexual also declined by roughly 10 percentage points in the same period — the first significant reversal since tracking began.The steepest declines were seen among students identifying as queer, pansexual, asexual, or bisexual.The trend appears generational as well: freshmen are now less likely than seniors to describe themselves as bisexual, trans, or queer — a striking shift from just a few years ago, when those numbers were climbing fast.Elite schools are showing the most dramatic changes. At Phillips Academy Andover, transgender identification dropped from 9% to 3%, while Brown University saw a fall from 5% to 2.6%. Analysts suggest these declines at top-tier institutions may signal the start of a broader cultural correction. Non-binary identification has also been cut roughly in half since 2022.When it comes to sexual orientation, bisexual identification peaked around 2022–23 before sliding downward. The “queer” and “other” categories surged through 2023, then collapsed by 2025. Gay and lesbian numbers remained stable at around 3–5%, while heterosexual identification has rebounded strongly, reaching between 77% and 82% this year.<h2 id="">The mental health connection</h2>The report also highlights a connection between gender identity and mental health. While transgender identification declined across all mental health categories, the drop was less pronounced among students reporting depression. In fact, the share of depressed students identifying as non-binary actually rose — from 10.8% in 2024 to 11.6% in 2025.&nbsp;More than other factors, mental health is what appears to most affect the adoption of gender ideology.“Trans, queer and bisexual identities are in rapid decline among young educated Americans,” Professor Kaufmann concluded in his report. “This does not appear to be the result of a shift to the right, the return of religion or a rejection of woke culture war attitudes. Despite high correlations between sexual/gender identity and political attitudes within individuals, the over-time trend in gender and sexuality seems relatively independent of political, cultural and religious beliefs. Improving mental health, however, appears to be part of the explanation for the decline of BTQ+ identification.”‍
